Suerte Tequila Añejo

100% Blue Weber Agave Añejo Tequila | 40% ABV | 80 Proof | 750mL | 12 Months | American & French Oak | 100% Tahona-Crushed | Additive-Free

Process & Profile

Suerte Tequila Añejo is a traditionally produced Highland tequila made from 100% Blue Weber agave at the brand's dedicated distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. Suerte emphasizes slow production methods designed to preserve the natural character of mature agave from cooking through barrel maturation.

The agave piñas are slow roasted for approximately 56 hours in traditional brick ovens before being crushed for 24 hours using Suerte's volcanic-stone tahona. After fermentation, the tequila is double distilled, first in stainless steel and then in copper.

For the Añejo, separate portions of tequila mature for 12 months in used charred white American whiskey barrels and French oak barrels before being blended together. The two oak types build additional fruit, caramel, maple, vanilla, and honey around the cooked-agave foundation.

Bottled at 40% ABV / 80 proof, Suerte Añejo is also produced without artificial flavors or sweeteners, keeping its character focused on agave, fermentation, distillation, and oak.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Ripe fruit, vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, and subtle berry notes

Palate: Cooked agave, maple, honey, caramel, vanilla, ripe fruit, and a hint of fresh mint

Finish: Smooth and lingering with oak, vanilla, honeyed sweetness, and gentle agave character

What Makes It Special

Suerte Añejo combines traditional agave processing with a distinctive dual-oak maturation program.

Suerte is among a relatively small number of tequila producers that crush 100% of its cooked agave with a tahona rather than relying on modern shredders or diffusers. Its stone tahona was carved from volcanic rock found beneath the distillery and slowly crushes the roasted agave to extract its fermentable sugars.

The Añejo then spends a full year in oak, with tequila matured separately in used charred American whiskey barrels and French oak barrels before the components are blended. American oak contributes familiar caramel, vanilla, and sweetness, while French oak adds another layer of structure and fruit.

Suerte also operates from its own dedicated distillery under NOM 1530, allowing the brand to oversee production from agave processing through bottling.

Its combination of 100% Blue Weber agave, tahona extraction, one-year maturation, dual-oak influence, and additive-free production makes it a strong choice for drinkers seeking an Añejo that retains noticeable agave character beneath its barrel flavors.

How to Enjoy

Enjoy Suerte Añejo neat in a tequila or tulip-shaped tasting glass to explore its ripe fruit, caramel, maple, honey, vanilla, and oak.

It can also be served over one large ice cube for gradual dilution, which can bring additional sweetness and fruit forward.

For cocktails, its richer barrel profile works particularly well in an Añejo Old Fashioned, Tequila Manhattan, or elevated Margarita where oak and caramel can complement the citrus and bitters.
