This is great sipping over two cubs of ice.

Horse Soldier!

Gave this bottle as a gift to a comrade, former Marine Recon. However, there was a stipulation to the gift; we shared one drink.

Pouring it, we immediately noticed it’s higher alcoholic content and need to breathe. Like horse soldiers running to battle, this bourbon opened with a charge.

After about 10 minutes of conversation, we sipped. A little bit of a harsh nose still, but it was laying down well. After 30 minutes, the notes of deep oak and cedar really became prevalent. The dark amber color was phenomenal. Then, it was all grand from that point out, a tiny bit of vanilla on my tongue but still a little warmth going down.

I think either a small cube of ice or a dash of water might have mellowed it out but we weren’t about to tinge a shared tasting and it is called Horse Soldier!
