Process & Profile
Butterfly Classic Absinthe is a modern recreation of a pre-Prohibition American absinthe originally produced in Boston around 1902. The historic recipe was revived and is now produced in Couvet, Switzerland by renowned absinthe distiller Claude-Alain Bugnon. More than 60 production steps over three days take the spirit from botanical selection and maceration through distillation and bottling, creating a traditional absinthe with distinctive citrus, mint, anise, fennel, and wormwood character.

How to Enjoy
Enjoy Butterfly Classic Absinthe using the traditional absinthe preparation by slowly adding chilled water to the spirit until it develops its characteristic cloudy louche. A ratio of approximately four to five parts cold water to one part absinthe creates a softer, aromatic presentation that allows the anise, fennel, citrus, mint, and wormwood notes to open. Butterfly can also be used in classic cocktails that call for absinthe, including the Corpse Reviver No. 2 and other spirit-forward recipes.
