El Tesoro Tequila Anejo

Añejo | 40% ABV | 80 Proof | 750mL | Jalisco Highlands, Mexico | 100% Blue Weber Agave | American Oak Ex-Bourbon Barrels | Aged 2–3 Years

Process & Profile

El Tesoro Tequila Anejo is produced at La Alteña Distillery from fully mature Blue Weber agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco. The agave cooks slowly for 48 hours in traditional brick ovens, cools for a full day, and is crushed by a two-ton volcanic tahona stone.

The extracted juice and agave fibers ferment together in open wooden vats using natural yeast before double distillation to proof in small copper pot stills. The tequila then matures for two to three years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, developing deeper oak character while retaining its cooked-agave foundation.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Floral jasmine, oak, cooked agave, light vanilla, and subtle caramel.

  • Palate: Sweet cooked agave balanced by black pepper, American oak, floral tones, and gentle barrel sweetness.

  • Finish: Lingering vanilla with light green, herbal, oak, and pepper notes.

How to Enjoy

El Tesoro Tequila Anejo is best served neat in a tequila glass, allowing several minutes for its jasmine, agave, vanilla, and oak aromas to develop. A large ice cube can soften its pepper and barrel influence. Its balance of sweet agave and ex-bourbon oak also works well in an Añejo Old Fashioned, Manhattan-style tequila cocktail, or other spirit-forward drink.
