The Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year Old Pure Malt Whisky stands as a tribute to Masataka Taketsuru, the pioneer of Japanese whisky. Masataka, originally trained in his family's sake business, developed a passion for whisky that led him to Scotland. After returning to Japan, he produced the country's first single malt whisky and established the Nikka Whisky Co. in 1934.
The Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year Old is crafted from a blend of single malt whiskies from Nikka's two distilleries: Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Each whisky is aged for at least 17 years before blending. This process results in a whisky with a rich, complex profile that reflects the unique environments of the two distilleries.
Nose/Aroma: Malty with hints of fruit salad, berries, and plantains.
Taste: Notes of vanilla, blood oranges, whipped cream, and milk chocolate
Finish: Hints of bittersweet oak, cocoa, and fruit.
