Olivier Leflaive Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru

Red Burgundy | 750mL | Aloxe-Corton, Côte de Beaune, France | 100% Pinot Noir | Grand Cru | Oak-Matured

Process & Profile

Olivier Leflaive Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru is a red Burgundy made entirely from Pinot Noir grown in the Clos du Roi vineyard in Aloxe-Corton. Situated beneath the protective Bois de Corton woodland, the site combines limestone and marl soils with iron-rich elements. The resulting wine brings together generous fruit, substantial structure, and the earthy character associated with this part of the Côte de Beaune.

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation in open vats. Oak-barrel maturation follows, with a portion of new barrels contributing to the wine’s development before a final period in stainless steel brings the wine together ahead of bottling.

Cherry and darker fruit sit at the center of its profile, accompanied by floral, earthy, and spice notes. Its ample texture and firm structure make it a compelling choice for a meal built around duck, beef, or mushrooms.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Cherry and plum with floral notes, earth, and gentle spice.

  • Palate: Generous cherry and dark fruit, supported by a rounded texture and pronounced structure.

  • Finish: Persistent fruit with earthy depth and lingering spice.

How to Enjoy

Serve at approximately 63–66°F (17–19°C) in a Burgundy glass. Taste shortly after opening, then allow the wine some time in the glass to follow the development of its fruit, floral, and savory notes.

Olivier Leflaive recommends duck breast with a red wine and chocolate sauce. Roast beef, mushroom dishes, and slow-cooked meats also make appealing pairings for its fruit and structure.
